Your Windows XP may have several error conditions, most of which can be handled by Windows repair XP. Windows XP may not respond to your shut down attempts, and it could also initiate a re-start as soon as you try to shut down your computer. Your registry could develop errors and grow in size making your computer run slow and eventually hang.

Windows XP errors could be induced by incorrect system configurations, hardware incompatibility and failures, conflicting device drivers, and many more. The most common fault with Windows XP is that as soon as you attempt shut down, Windows XP initiates a re-start. This is because Windows XP is programmed to re-start as soon as it encounters errors while shutting down. The accumulation of temporary files in the Windows temporary folders can also cause Windows XP not to respond to the shut down process. The temporary files can be removed one by one manually, or you can also use file cleaning software to delete all the files from the temporary folders in Windows. The temporary folders are located in C:\Windows in your “C” drive. If you have more than one drive, the temporary folders would be located in the hard disk where you have installed Windows XP. There are several programs in Windows repair XP which can take care of most of the errors in Windows XP.

There are many reasons for Windows XP not responding to shut down attempts. The “exit sound file” in your Windows may be damaged, your computer system could be incorrectly configured, there could be faulty and incompatible hardware in your system or the device drivers in your PC could have conflicts. You may find that your Windows operating system initiates a re-start as soon as you try to shut down your system. This is due to the default condition in the Windows XP by which it re-starts as soon as it finds problems with the shut down attempts.

Windows registry is a database where your operating system holds important data which it requires when executing programs. Windows XP registry develops errors during the time you use your computer. These errors are mainly invalid, obsolete, irrelevant, and corrupt entries which cause problems in the performance of your PC. Windows XP scans the registry for relevant information while it is executing a program. With the accumulation of errors in the registry, the registry grows in size and Windows takes a longer time to scan the database. As a result, your PC slows down. Sometimes the error data in the registry conflicts with Windows operation and this may put your computer in a hang state. Eventually, Windows may fail to boot. This would mean re-formatting your drive and re-installing Windows XP.

With accumulation of errors in the registry, there could be conflict which would make your computer stop functioning altogether. When your operating system fails to boot, it becomes a serious problem, your hard disk may have to be re-formatted and Windows re-installed. Windows repair XP provides the solution in removing your registry errors. You may download registry cleaning software from the Internet and use the program to remove errors from the registry. You should do this regularly in order to keep your computer running normally.

It has often been found that Windows XP hangs at the point it displays “saving your settings” on the screen of your monitor. During this time you will not get any response from Ctrl+Alt+Del, and you may find that your mouse is not moving. This could be an intermittent fault caused by a possible bug in Windows XP. Microsoft has a Windows repair XP supported fix for this kind of fault. For rectification, use a patch, which is included in your Windows XP, and also available as Windows update. You would need to re-configure Windows update to avoid this from happening over and over again.

Some of the errors in Windows XP cannot be set right with Windows repair XP. There is no other way to solve those errors except re-installing Windows XP in your computer. To re-instal Windows, you need not remove your existing installation, and you can proceed installing the operating system over the one that already exists. Re-installation of your Windows XP will retain the application software already installed in your computer, and the settings and data in your computer will remain intact.
