Like many of us you have probably been curious about the many ads you see depicting Yachts and big houses and offering you untold wealth. Do these programs really deliver? Unfortunately the answer is very rarely the only person who gets right is the owner. Is there a way to make money online?

The short answer is yes but you need to put in a lot more time than a few hours per day to start with. When I first started Internet marketing I worked up to 12 hours per day building an income to replace the one I lost when I left my previous job. I had to work so hard because I was trying this with any help or advice. I was making mistakes and then learning how to rectify them. It takes dedication and focus and slowly but soon your income will grow to the point that you can cut back your hours and get some quality time with your family.

Before you stare spend an hour working out exactly what you want from life. Don’t focus on fast cars or big houses but more on the things that matter. The Yachts and Houses are just what we are told that we want and are transient.

If after you’ve thought deeply you decide that you want to see your family grow up, you want to be able to make it to your children’s school concert and not have to work late on that important project. If you decide that you want to be able to take your wife for a romantic lunch before you collect the kids from school then you have the correct frame of mind to start making an income for yourself. If you don’t have a family and you decide you want to be self reliant and not a wage slave then you are on the way. Be realistic and you won’t be disappointed.

I look at building an income the same way I look at building a house. First of all get the strong foundations in place, then work on putting in the walls and finally add the roof to make it all water tight. The foundations should be a really strong income stream that you can rely on and that will provide you an income for a long time.

When I started I created my foundation site around Adsense, Amazon and Clickbank. All are strong programs that have a long history of paying out on time. I create sites then promote them using articles and Web 2.0 resources. My whole focus with these site is getting traffic to them. Once the income has built up and the visitors are coming then it’s time to move onto the walls.

When it comes to building the walls for our income house it’s time to take some risks and have a bit of fun at the same time. Investigate other income streams that you could use. Buying and selling domains might be one good type of project. Also consider buying websites then flipping them for profit. Use what you learned on the foundation stage to improve any sites you buy.

The Roof like in your house is the top level of our strategy, this is where you take everything you have learned building your foundations and walls and apply it to your own programs and products, by now you will know what works, you will have developed a network of contacts through programs and forums and you are ready to develop your own products.

The really good thing about this strategy is that you don’t need any money to get started. There are now enough free resources around that you can create your first income without spending money.

Remember be focused and realistic and a full time income is within your grasp.
