More and more people want to download music to their PSP game console.

The Sony PSP was originally created as a mobile 3D-game machine, like the GameBoy was created as a 2D-gaming device. It was not designed to play music.

But quite often with technical gadgets like these, they do get used for other things that what the creators were thinking about.

Actually the PSP is very capable of playing movies and music as well. The sound quality is fantastic.

While it is not common that songs are being sold on UMD (the PSP media format) you can easily take MP3-songs that you already have on your hard drive and copy them to the PSP.

If you want to transfer audio CD tracks to your PSP, you have to first convert the music from the CD on your computer and then on to the PSP from the computer.

If you want to do this, you will need a PSP memory card which is big enough to store the music files on, a CD ripping software in case you want to convert CD tracks and a USB cable to connect your computer to your PSP.

There is also software available to will do everything all at once: This means extracting the music from your CDs, converting them into the PSP format and then transfer them to the PSP.

Some such software can also compile a music library on your PC for you and remember which songs you have already put on your PSP, so you won’t accidentally put the same songs on twice.

If you want to use a program like this, you just have to ensure your PSP is connected to your computer, start the program and hit “synchronize”. That’s how easy it is.

The advantage when your download music to the PSP is that the PSP does not use a proprietary format like the iTunes software does when connecting to the iPod. So while the PSP is certainly not a full-blown music player it is definitely a game console that got into the groove of MP3 tunes.
