Gonorrhoea, or Neisseria Gonorrhoea, or “clap”, is a bacterial infection that is generally widespread and highly communicable. Gonorrhoea grows mainly in the areas of the reproductive tract, that is, in the vagina, fallopian tubes, cervix uterus and fallopian tubes in women, and in the urethra for both men and women, and penis for men. The disease can also infect the mouth, throat, eyes, and anus.

It is a bacterial infection produced by the bacterium called Neisseria Gonorrhae. The most common mean for transmission of these bacteria is sexual unprotected contact with an infected individual. The possibility that this bacterium is transmitted is higher if the sexual contact takes place during the menstruation or right after the menstruation of the woman.

There is one important aspect of the transmission ways of the bacteria, that all of us should keep in mind. Not always this bacterium is transmitted through sexual contact, there are situations in which a healthy individual can contract the bacteria without any sexual activity or contact being involved in the matter.

As the Neisseria Gonorrhoea bacteria can survive outside their human host for a few minutes, a healthy person can get infected by being in contact with a contaminated item such as underwear, towels, and toilet seats, among others. Even the mere touching of an infected part of the body is just as risky as having sex with an infected person.

If you have a penchant for using erotic toys, just go through the procedure of sanitizing these items before introducing them to your vagina or anus. Even just an infected finger could have really grave consequences.

The mother can also pass on the disease to the baby during delivery as the baby passes through the birth canal. These are some of the other ways the disease can be passed on.

Gonorrhoea is a very hazardous disease which can have devastating irreversible effects if not diagnosed and treated early. It can cause infertility for both men and women. The disease can also spread to other parts of the body through the blood and affect the other organs.

It would not be easy to deal with a disease like gonorrhoea because it does not present any apparent symptom. So if you have even the littlest doubt in your mind regarding your physical state based on what you have been exposed to in the recent past, then you should not waste time in consulting a medical professional such as a gynaecologist, a urologist, or even a family doctor.

The ideal situation is that none of you readers ever find yourselves in is the one needing treatment for this infection. You must be very careful to the protection you use during sexual contact, because the condom is the only real protection against such bacteria, and you must also pay a lot of attention to the items you touch, especially when using other people’s restroom or public restrooms.
