Desktop Sharing is an advance technology that uses computer software that enables you to remotely access your work computer from home or vise versa.

In other words, with the use of Desktop Sharing Software, you can literally access all of your computer software and hard drive files from any Internet-connected device anywhere in the world.

Remote desktop sharing allows users to access their work or home computers from any Internet-enabled device, including public computers, laptops and even PDAs.

Take for example, you are preparing a huge MS Office Memo for a big meeting on Friday. You saved all of the MS Word, PDF files and images that you want to use in your Memo on the hard drive of your work computer. But you wake up with a nasty stomach virus when Thursday comes. As a result, you do not feel well enough to go to the office, but you need to finish that Memo. Here is where desktop sharing can help.

Virtual private networks (VPN) were used to be the only way to remotely access work files from home. But VPN access has a limitation whereby it is not the same as assessing the hard drive of your home computer. The local area network (LAN) at your office is the only network that you can access with VPN. In other words, VPN only allows you to access your PowerPoint presentation files if you have saved them on the network, not just on your office computer hard drive.

In conclusion, desktop sharing is a relatively new technology emerging now. It’s going to change the world especially for workers on how they communicate with each others. With the internet becoming easily accessible now, desktop sharing will be one important aspect of the internet in the coming future.
