An Orlando vacation can involve various activities, but the most popular attractions are certainly the theme parks although it has a great deal more to offer. Orlando also has the famous International Drive which houses a huge number of attractions, shopping areas and water parks; all within a reasonable walking distance if you want a rest from driving. Florida in general has a long history of attracting tourists and this is the busiest city with more and more people visiting each year in a place that will satisfy even the most demanding of individuals.

It is a great place to visit even if you only have shopping on your mind as Orlando area is full of beautiful shopping malls, restaurants and shops of every type. An Orlando vacation is a destination that offers a wide range of attractions perfect for adults and children of all ages.

To start, there is the Central Florida Zoo which draws huge crowds all year round and has over four hundred animals there although it is was only granted this status in 1975. It is actually a privately owned charitable group dedicated to the protection of exotic animals plus species that are native to Florida but also offers informative and child-friendly classes and events.

For anyone that appreciates the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany then a large collection of his works is exhibited the Museum of American Art, where it has been housed since the early 1940’s. The famous chapel interior commissioned for the World’s Columbian Exhibition back in 1893 is also here along with many items of Tiffany jewelry, leaded glass, ornaments and clayware.

Surprisingly, Orlando is not just about fun for the children because adults are very well catered for in this entertainment town. There is also plenty to do in the evening when you take an Orlando vacation with family shows like the Pirates adventure or for adults, Disney’s Pleasure Island and Universals city walk.

Another popular attraction is the Orlando Science Center and is in fact one of the largest buildings of its type allowing the visitor access to ten huge exhibition halls. An alternative to this would be the International Trolley and Train Museum which can be found along International Drive and has one of the country’s largest operating indoor G gauge layouts in a space of over four thousand square feet.

The Titanic ” Ship of Dreams Exhibition can also be found along International Drive; this is a moving, often eerie depiction of the great Ocean Liner with a tour guide depicting a character from the ship with many original items on display. Lake Eola Park on the other hand has a pleasant 43 acres to stroll around and relax or perhaps a little boating on the lake.

Not all theme parks in Orlando are based purely on rides as the fantastic Seaworld will attest but if you want rides then you have the Disney resort theme parks and Universal studios too. An Orlando vacation has enough tourist attractions to last a year so the next time you visit, why not try one or two of the others; they may be less well known but can be just as impressive.
