The Costa Del Sol in Spain is one of the most popular destinations with tourists and stretches over 150km. The main reason why this area of Spain is proving so popular with tourists is because it has such wonderful weather all year round.
This area of Spain is divided up into two distinct areas one being the Eastern part and the other being the Western. The eastern part of this region is made up of a 54km stretch of the coastline and stretches from the east of Malaga city which is also the capital of the Province.
Whilst the other 100 km of coastline which runs from the west of Malaga city and stretches all the way to the border with the Province of Cadiz. It is this part of the coastline which has been developed and where most of the tourists coming to the region will stay.
The main airport that provides people with easy access to the resorts in Malaga province is the international airport at Malaga and which annually has more than 2 million passengers passing through its gates each year. The main resorts that many of these people will then head for are Marbella, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Torremolinos and Nerja.
Although many people come to spend time just relaxing on the wide open beaches that the Costa Del Sol has to offer. It is now becoming a very popular all year round destination for those who enjoy playing golf. Today the area has now more than 70 golf courses which can be played on and has earned the name of being the “Costa del Golf” as well.
As well as the golf courses there are plenty of other activities that visitors to the area can enjoy including scuba diving, sailing, wind surfing, dolphin safaris and horse riding. For those who would like to try something a little different or more strenuous then taking a trip further inland is worth considering.
If you are a keen rock climber then a visit to the area known as El Chorro only a short distance away from Malaga airport may be worth considering visiting. Certainly this is a location in Spain that has now become a very popular one with climbers from around the world and many come during the winter months to try and scale its heights.
However, if you would rather just sit back and relax and watch the world go by then a visit to Marbella, Torremolinos and Benalmadena should be considered. Here you can spend time on its beautiful beaches soaking up a few rays of the sun or wander into one of its many delightful beach side bars or restaurants.
Even though Malaga is very much a commercial city there are numerous things one can do and see during a day visit to the city. Along with wandering around the old port and quarter there is the Roman theatre and Moorish palace to be seen. Plus no visit to this city will be complete without taking in the Picasso Museum as this is the city where the artist was born and lived.
Certainly as you can see from above when it comes to the Costa Del Sol there is so much more to it than a beach holiday. As anyone will testify who has already been to this area of Spain it really is a wonderful vibrant place to visit.
