The Hi-Lo Country: Tale of 2 men in post-WW2 New Mexico who fall in love with the identical lady and she’s already married to someone else. A tribute to the dude way of life and the delights of real kinship, this film has so much going for it (including Harrelson’s wonderful performance as a hell-raiser and Oliver Stapleton’s cinematography) that it’s a pity it doesn’t hit the bull’s-eye and Arquette is so boring. Ironweed: William Kennedy adjusted his Pulitzer Prize novel in reference to road individuals, set in Albany, N.Y.,’38. Nicholson plays a guy trying to come to terms with the life he turned his back on years ago. Streep is his longtime friend who, like him, can?t stay off the bottle for long. Cast includes Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, Carroll Baker, Michael O’Keefe, Diane Venora, Fred Gwynne, Margaret Whitton, Tom Delays, Jake Dengel, Nathan’ Aisle, James Gammon, Joe Grifasi, Bethel Leslie, Ted Levine, and Frank Whaley. Chicago Ten: An exclusive documentary approach to the tumultuous occurrences of’68 when opposing groups appeared in Chicago to dispute the status quo, and the battle in Vietnam, throughout the Democratic Nationwide Convention. The film is balanced with excited renderings of the event and its trouble makers (taken verbatim from court transcripts), which became the show of the ridiculous. Without narration, talking head interviews, period music, or considerably situational material, this narrowly concentrated film grants a spiritual, compassionate, and instant portrait of a pivotal occurrence in American history. Cast includes Voices of Hank Azaria, Dylan Baker, Mark Ruffalo, Roy Scheider, Notch Nolte, Liev Schreiber, Jeffrey Wright, and James Urbaniak. (110 minutes, 2008)

Straight Out of Brooklyn: The story of a black family?s going nowhere existence in the ghettos of Brooklyn, N.Y., and the oldest son?s plan to rob a local drug dealer to turn things around for the family. Cast includes George T. Odom, Ann D. Sanders, Lawrence Gilliard, Jr., Barbara Sanon, Reana E. Drummond, and Mark Malone. (91 minutes,’91)

The Plough and the Stars: This is a boring, theatrical style film of a Sean O?Casey play with Foster as Irish a revolutionary leader and Stanwyck as his long-agonizing spouse who prays for his life. Cast includes Barbara Stanwyck, Preston Foster, Barry Fitzgerald, Una O’Connor, Bonita Granville, and Arthur Guards. (78 minutes,’36)

Slave Girls: The all too glamorous Andress is seized by locals and painted in arrangement for sacrifice in a scene essentially equivalent to that prompted by ex-spouse John Derek for current spouse Bo years later in Tarzan, The Ape Man. Cast includes Ursula Andress, Stacy Keach, Claudio Cassinelli, Antonio Marsina, and Franco Fantasia. (93 minutes,’78)

The Lost Boys: A family moves to a California town where the local adolescent gang turns out to be vampires! A smooth film aimed at a younger audience. Both the humor and the structuring are pretty apparent. Only genuine fireworks materialize at the end in the very last showdown. Cast includes Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Dianne Wiest, Bamard Hughes, Edward Herrmann, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Feldman, and Jamison Newlander. (97 minutes,’87)

Double Wedding: Loy’s orchestration of her sis’s marriage ceremony is upset by the presence of free spirited bohemian Powell. The megastars are the entire show in this alternatively disheartening adaptation of the play Incredible Love. Cast includes William Powell, Myrna Loy, Florence Rice, John Beal, Jessie Ralph, Edgar Kennedy, Sidney Toler, and Mary Gordon. (87 minutes,’37)

Sudden Impact: The fourth in the Dirty Harry series depends on a reliable recipe, as maverick cop gives us vicarious delight of doing in civilization’s scum, although this entry is longer, and stupider, than need be. Locke plays a Lady taking out murderous reprisal on gentlemen (and one lesbian) who raped her and her sis years ago. Cast includes Clint Eastwood, Sondra Locke, Pat Hingle, Bradford Dillman, Paul Drake, Jack Thibeau, and Albert Popwell. (117 minutes,’83)
